Marion Design Co. is a Community-based Creative Studio run by volunteer and professional designers. With a belief rooted in the power of design, our main purpose is to create solutions that propel and empower the people of Marion. We are a team prepared to take on urban renewal and revitalization, community branding, and identity development. We are collaborators, citizens, and neighbors who desire authentic relationships with the community of Marion and by working together, reveal the true identity of our amazing city.

Community-based design is a social design method that enables social service providers, organizers, designers and evaluators to serve specific communities in their own environment. This design approach depends on the participatory approach of community development often associated with community-based social work, and is often employed by community organizations. From this approach, designers assess the needs and resources existing within a community, and, involving community stakeholders in the process, attempt to create a sustainable and equitable solution to address the community's needs.

A huge part of the passion that fuels this project is in education. Beginning at the minds of educators, Marion Design Co. has been crafted and geared toward selecting students and community members eager to learn outside the classroom. In joining to solve real issues, a more interactive and purposeful learning emerges for those seeking a high quality design education. Rather than speaking in hypotheticals within the controlled classroom, this method inhabits a space near the core, and surrounded by the peoples in which we are designing for while working carefully to solve design issues in real time.
